Nataliya Gosselin
The physiology of fear is very primal. Logic fails to work when we are afraid even of fictional things. With my camera I take a journey into deep animalistic parts of our souls and the irrational mind. I find it fascinating that gory imagery is less threatening than a suggestion of the unknown. With my dark night photographs I let the imagination take over reason.
Nataliya Gosselin's work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in New York and New Jersey. She has also completed a mentorship program with Eva Respini, junior curator at the Museum of Modern Art, and was nominated for the Tierney Fellowship Award. More recently Gosselin completed a five month internship at the studio of Mary Ellen Mark. In addition to working with the photographic medium, Gosselin creates sculptural work as three dimensional commentary on her photographs. Nataliya Gosselin was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1983. She received her B.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
