Harvey Stein is a photographer, teacher, lecturer, and author of four books of photographs: Parallels: A Look at Twins (1978); Artists Observed (1986); Coney Island (1998); and Movimento: Glimpses of Italian Street Life (2007). Stein‘s photographs have been published in magazines such as The New Yorker, Time, Life, Esquire, American Heritage, Smithsonian, Reader‘s Digest, Glamour, Forbes, Playboy, and People, as well as every major photo magazine. He has had 71 one–person exhibits and has been in 137 group shows in the U.S. and Europe, and his photographs are in scores of public and private collections around the world. His work is represented by the Bruce Silverstein Gallery, Throckmorton Fine Art and June Bateman Fine Art. He is a faculty member of the School of Visual Arts (Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography), and the International Center of Photography. He is the director of photography at Umbrella Arts.
