Amy Elkins was born in Venice Beach, CA in 1979 and received her BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY in May of 2007. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including shows at Kunsthalle wien in Vienna, Austria, The PIP International Photo Festival in Pingyao, China, Gallery Gagopa in Masan, South Korea, Gallery Elsa in Busan, South Korea, PEER Gallery, Tina Kim Gallery and Yancey Richardson Gallery in New York, Fette‘s Gallery in Los Angeles and Transformer Gallery in Washington DC. Her first solo show, Wallflower, was held at Yancey Richardson Gallery in October of 2008. Elkins‘ photographs have been featured in publications and magazines including A Field Guide to the North American Family, American Photo, Constance: Replicas and Replacements, Corduroy, Dear Dave, EyeMazing, Newsweek, NY Arts, NY Times Magazine, Out, PDN, Popular Photo, The Collector‘s Guide to Emerging Art and The Portrait. Photography as Stage. In June of 2008 Amy Elkins and Cara Phillips co–founded wipnyc.org, a platform for showcasing both established and emerging women in photography. Elkins currently lives and works in New York and is represented by Yancey Richardson Gallery.
