Traveling Route 66 this past summer was an adventure worth repeating. The images from the trip such as Okie-Inn Motel form an integral part of an ongoing body of work on contemporary American culture. Originally a main thoroughfare to the west, the route is now submerged in places under superhighways. What remains is a fascinating look at our history and our future. Sally Tosti is an Associate Professor in the Visual Art Department at Keystone College, La Plume, PA. She divides her time between northeastern Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, NY. A member of the Camera Club of New York, she holds two Master of Fine Art degrees. Her most recent MFA is in Photography and Printmaking from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. Sally received an Artist Residency in January 2006 from The Camera Club of New York, and is a past recipient of Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Grant and the F. Lamot Belin Scholarship. Her three-dimensional bookwork, Coney Island Puzzle Box, was included this summer in the Fun & Games and SuchÉ exhibition at the Center for Book Arts in New York. She has also been included in numerous invitational photography exhibitions in New York City, and printmaking exhibitions throughout the country.
