Andrea Star Reese

Is currently at work on her on going series, The Urban Cave, documenting chronic homeless men and women of New York City, and in post–production on a series of documentary film shorts filmed in Indonesia.
Still photography credits include Visura Magazine, Alternatives Internationales, The Fader, YLBHI (Indonesia‘s legal aid society) Amnesty International‘s Make Some Noise and Terror campaigns, and here is new york: a democracy of photographs.
A selection from the ongoing series The Urban Cave is currently part of the exhibition ”2008 Les Visas de l”ANI“ which opened at le Bar Floreal, Paris, under the Association Nationale des Iconographes, (ANI)/French national photo editors‘ association. Most recently the series received Best Social Documentary Photographic Essay as well as two Honorable Mentions for editorial singles at the 2009 New York Photo Awards, and a 2008 American Society of Media Photographers Judges Choice Award.
Video work was featured extensively in Witness 9/11 for National Geographic while other 9/11 related credits include CNN, ABC, RAI TV and ABC News Magazine.
Recently Ms. Reese was a participant at the 2008 Eddie Adams Workshop. A 2008 graduate of the International Center of Photography, Andrea Star Reese received her BFA and MFA from California Institute of the Arts school of Film/Video.
