In Contemporary Views of the American Landscape we highlight twelve established and emerging photographers who present us with different views of the natural world and our relationship towards it. This constant change creates a challenge which photographers grapple with in different ways. Several photographs address the relationship between photographer and landscape while others address nature and its receding role in our lives. Some take us back into homes where we once lived. Brian Sorg's"Treelight" focuses on the meeting point of nature coliding with technology. In over-populated cities nature is most often found only as a compliment to the surrounding technology. By bringing together this body of work, curators Bryan Schneider and Azikiwe Mohammed contribute a contemporary vision of what makes our landscape particularly American.
