As both and artist and an architect, my work has consistently dealt with spatial perception. The selected photographs I have included in my submission explore this issue in different ways.
The Our Home My Home photographs are still life set ups that include images of various empty rooms that were part of a year of transition. I sold my childhood home after the death of my father, and moved to a new home with my husband and children. I am interested in the tension between the space of the still life in my studio, and the spaces depicted in the snapshots.
The Box of Space series projects the image of an idealized space into the workaday space of the studio. The friction between these two disparate places is the subject of this work.
